Amélie’s set to reopen Uptown location soon

CHARLOTTE — A popular bakery is returning to Uptown.

Amélie’s French Bakery and Café at 380 S. College St. is set to reopen at the end of May. The restaurant closed in November 2020 amid COVID-19 challenges.

The Uptown café is receiving a full interior makeover that includes new flooring, a large catering and event space that can be reserved, and a revamped dining room.

The redesigned space will also include a dedicated ‘Pick-Up Only’ section for lunch customers short on time, and a new ordering system.

“We’re thrilled to be back in Uptown! We have so many improvements and updates throughout the Uptown location that we’re excited to introduce,” Amelie’s operations director Justy Martinez said in a news release. “We’ve been overwhelmed by the customer support and anticipation of our return to the heart of Charlotte. After a long delay due to Covid, we are under construction to reopen one of our staple bakeries.”

Amelie’s Uptown is the bakery’s largest location. It will be open for limited hours as it transitions back into the 14,000-square-foot space.

Amélie’s operates four other locations in NoDa, Rock Hill, Carmel Commons and Park Road.
