Big South Conference basketball tournament ends run at Bojangles Coliseum

CHARLOTTE — The Big South Basketball Championships will not be returning to Bojangles Coliseum next year, the conference and the arena operator confirmed to CBJ this week.

The weeklong basketball championships feature the Charlotte-based conference’s men’s and women’s tournaments. The Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority manages Bojangles Coliseum; the city owns the coliseum.

A visitors authority spokesperson told CBJ yesterday that the recently expired contract with the Big South will not be extended for 2024.

In a prepared statement, visitors authority CEO Tom Murray said, “We appreciated the opportunity to host the Big South’s men’s and women’s basketball championships at Bojangles Coliseum as a neutral site.”
