Cabarrus County hosts first ever teen government summit on Saturday

CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. — Cabarrus County is encouraging young minds in local government.

On Saturday, high school students from across the county spent the day learning more about county government at Cabaruss’ first county teen summit.

Students were able to meet elected officials, learn about different service opportunities in the community, and meet other like-minded students.

Konner Black, a student at Northwest Cabarrus High School, told Channel 9 that events like these help people grow and meet new people.

“It’s a great way to grow as a person, make new opportunities, and network,” Black said.

The students were also able to share their opinions on issues they face and brainstorm ideas on how the community can help.
