Ch. 9 on the campaign trail with Senate candidate Cheri Beasley

CHARLOTTE — For candidates on the ballot this fall -- regardless of the race they’re running in or their party affiliation -- one of the most effective ways to gain votes is getting out and talking with people in the community.

Channel 9 went on the campaign trail with both candidates vying to represent North Carolina in the U.S. Senate.

The Political Beat’s Joe Bruno spent time with Democrat candidate Cheri Beasley as she made stops at several places in our area.

Beasley bounced between town hall discussions from Greensboro to Gaston County addressing issues important to voters including immigration, abortion, prescription drug costs, student debt relief and more.

She closed out her final event of the day’s campaign with a plea for folks to get out and vote.

“Often we know there are some folks who feel discounted, they don’t feel their vote matters and I understand that,” Beasley said. “Folks wouldn’t be working so hard to take away their right to vote if it didn’t matter. It does matter, because we matter.”
