CHARLOTTE — Protestors walked the streets of Uptown on Monday with flags, signs and a paper mâché depiction of President Donald Trump’s head with red hands.

The Party for Socialism and Liberation organized as a part of the “We Fight Back” day of action. The Charlotte protest was held at First Ward Park on the day of the presidential inauguration on Monday at noon.

More than 70 cities across 40 states took part, organizers said.

The protesters spent the afternoon chanting at First Ward Park, walking down the streets, then returning to the park to rally. One of the protesters’ main complaints included that they think Trump represents billionaires, Dana Al-Hasan said in a press release.

“Trump is a billionaire, was elected with the help of other billionaires, and runs the government on behalf of the billionaire class,” said Al-Hasan, an organizer with the Party for Socialism and Liberation in Charlotte. “His administration will move to make major gains for the billionaire class at the expense of the millions of everyday people in the US and across the world.”

The protest included members of the All African People’s Revolutionary Party, Jewish Voice for Peace, Students for Justice in Palestine, and the Housing Justice Coalition.
