Man arrested in connection with fatal stabbing in south Charlotte, police say

CHARLOTTE — A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred in south Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

On March 20, police found a man suffering from an apparent stab wound at an apartment complex on Kingsford Drive.

The victim, later identified as 34-year-old Juan Carlos Miranda-Perez was pronounced deceased was the scene.

On March 24, police announced that 42-year-old Javier Torres Diaz had been identified as a suspect in this case.

Diaz was arrested near Warrenton, Virginia and has been charged with murder, according to police.

Homicide detectives said they are traveling to Warrenton to interview Diaz. Once extradition is granted, he will be transferred to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
