HIGH ROCK, N.C. — The U.S. Secret Service has sold a High Rock Lake property it had seized to a prolific developer who is now facing criminal charges of his own in California.
John Wessman, founder of Wessman Construction and Wessman Development in Palm Springs, California, bought the 1.68-acre property at 1713 Waterford Pointe Road in Lexington at auction for $726,100 on March 3.
The lakefront home sits on a double lot in Edgewater at the Pointe with 2,623 square feet of living space. It includes three bedrooms, two baths, kitchen with dining area, great room with fireplace, laundry room, screened porch, deck, and detached, two-car garage. The property includes a storage shed and dock with a boat ramp on High Rock Lake.
The appraised value of the property is $619,410.
The property was seized by the Secret Service in October after the previous owner, Samuel Allen Mouzon of Lexington, pleaded guilty to federal charges of embezzling more than $2 million, including Paycheck Protection Program funds, from Air Power Inc. of High Point.
