Families remember victims of homicides at commemoration

CHARLOTTE — CMPD and families of local victims came together Friday night for the National Day of Remembrance for murder victims.

There have been 84 homicides in Charlotte in 2022 as of Friday, according to Channel 9. The latest homicide happened in east Charlotte four hours before the commemoration.

In 2021 at this same time, there were 68 homicides in the Queen City.

This tribute was for victims who lost their lives to homicides and their surviving family members.

The event was at the CMPD Freedom Division on Wilkinson Boulevard in west Charlotte.
