Hunter Douglas facility in Gaston County to close, impacting 135 workers

GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — A longtime manufacturing facility in Bessemer City will wind down operations this summer, with more than 100 workers losing their jobs.

The Hunter Douglas Window Designs facility at 201 Southridge Parkway is expected to close by June 30, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification received by the N.C. Department of Commerce on March 13. The closure will result in job cuts for 135 employees.

The first layoffs are expected to take place on June 1, with a small group of about 39 “critical employees” likely to remain until the third quarter.
