Italian restaurant Little Mama’s to add south Charlotte location

CHARLOTTE — Expansion is on the menu for Little Mama’s Italian Kitchen.

Two years after debuting that concept in South Park, restaurateur Frank Scibelli says he’s signed a lease for another location at Rea Farms in south Charlotte. The Italian-American restaurant occupy a 4,600-square-foot location — formerly home to Sensi.

The restaurant, with its mezzanine and patio, will have close to 200 seats. It should open in early 2023, Scibelli says. He expects to invest less than $1 million dollars to transform that space.

“I think there’s very good bones there,” Scibelli says.

This will be the second location for Little Mama’s. Its original location in SouthPark opened in June 2020 — during the height of the pandemic.

“It’s been an absolute homerun. It’s hitting a niche in the market that people really like,” Scibelli says.

Little Mama’s delivers a take on classic Italian restaurants of the Northeast in the 1960s and 1970s, dishing up classic, comfort dishes.
