Market and café making a comeback in Elizabeth after closing in 2020

The café and market will open in Elizabeth in the space formerly occupied by Earl's Grocery.

CHARLOTTE — A café and market that became a neighborhood staple during the two years or so it operated on a prime corner in Dilworth is nearly ready for its comeback in nearby Elizabeth. Axios Charlotte reports Cory Duran, owner of The People’s Market, hopes to open in its new space in June.

The slightly smaller market is at 1609 Elizabeth Ave., in the space formerly occupied by Earl’s Grocery, as CBJ’s Jennifer Thomas reported last fall. Earl’s closed last summer, after struggling through the pandemic for more than a year.
