Parent-Child Plus Program helps kids in Charlotte develop early love of reading

CHARLOTTE — Courtney Lewis and her son, Zane, have quite the book collection, but they didn’t build it all by themselves.

Through the Parent-Child Plus Program, a local program where families in public housing in Mecklenburg County received donated books, the Lewis library only continues to grow each week.

Channel 9′s Almiya White spoke with Lewis, who said she is confident her son is well prepared for school.

“They’re prepared to say I know how to read, or I know that this is a book, I know how to interpret this book,” Lewis told White.
