CHARLOTTE — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car in west Charlotte Thursday morning.
The crash happened around 6 a.m. on Wilkinson Boulevard near Donald Ross Road.
Police identified the victim as 73-year-old Terry Honeycutt.
The investigation into the crash suggests the driver of a Ford Escape was traveling east on Wilkinson Boulevard and struck Honeycutt as he was crossing the street.
The driver was not injured.
The crash shut down the inbound lanes of the roadway for hours as crews investigated the incident.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department say the investigation is active and ongoing.
No charges have been filed against the driver.
