Remote learning available after Kannapolis child development center closes due to flooding

Kannapolis City Schools is one of five North Carolina school districts that have filed lawsuits against electronic cigarette maker JUUL.

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — The McKnight Child Development Center in Kannapolis will be closed until Jan. 18 after multiple pipes burst, which caused the building to flood. Repairs are extensive, which is why the building will be closed, the district said in a letter to families.

Although the building is closed, Kannapolis City Schools said it is offering virtual learning to all students who attend the school. Lunch pickup is also available for students who need it.

Students can get an iPad on Tuesday at the Kannapolis Middle School Mini Monarch at 1455 Oakwood Avenue.

Device pickup will be from 8:45 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.

Lunch will be provided at KMS from 11:30 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. every day during remote learning.
