CHARLOTTE — A road in south Charlotte remains closed after a water main break disrupted traffic early Monday morning.
It happened just before 5 a.m. along Archdale Drive, according to Charlotte Water.
When Channel 9 crews arrived, a portion of Archdale Drive was blocked at Cherrycrest Lane as water spilled out onto the roadway.

As of Tuesday morning, the road remained closed west of Old Pineville Road.
Charlotte Water is asking drivers to use Tyvola Road an an alternate route until repairs can be completed.

Crews flushed out any dirt or debris in the water line before restoring service to homes and businesses Monday afternoon.
Transportation crews may have to do some work before the road opens.
