CHARLOTTE — From Mother’s Day celebrations to festivals and concerts, here’s what’s happening in Charlotte this weekend.

Get ready for an action-packed play day at the Big Bounce America event, which is happening at Route 29 Pavilion near Charlotte Motor Speedway. Through Sunday there will be an inflatable theme park set up for all ages, from toddler sessions to adult-only sessions.

Have a ball with the Charlotte Knights as they take on the Durham Bulls at Truist Field this weekend. There will be fireworks following the game on Friday, and on Sunday, kids can run the bases after the game.

Charlotte’s largest amphitheaters, PNC Music Pavilion and the recently renamed Skyla Credit Union Amphitheatre (formerly Charlotte Metro Credit Union Amphitheatre) are set to open for the 2023 season this weekend. On Friday, music fans can see Janet Jackson at PNC Music Pavilion while Cody Jinks takes the stage at Skyla Credit Union Amphitheatre.

Kick off the weekend at Friday Night Live in Belmont. The concert series returns to Stowe Park this week and features a Guns N’ Roses tribute band.

This week marks the return of the 2nd Friday Street Festival series at Oak Street Mill in Cornelius, where you’ll find food trucks, inflatables, games, live music and other activities.

Enjoy a weekend of live music and a day of tastings from local and regional craft breweries at the annual North Carolina Brewers and Music Festival happening at historic Rural Hill in Huntersville on Friday and Saturday.

Get ready for shag dancing, street food, live music and other entertainment at the 15th annual BeachFest at Stumptown Park in Matthews on Friday and Saturday.

Shop local and enjoy live music at the Markets at 11 on Saturday at Ballantyne’s Backyard.

Step back in time and learn about foods from the North Carolina backcountry during a historic cooking demonstration at the President James K. Polk State Historic Site in Pineville on Saturday.

Have a doggone good time at the Charlotte Corgi Club Racing Championship on Saturday at Reedy Creek Park.

Celebrate the culture, traditions, and history of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders at the 23rd annual Charlotte Dragon Boat Race and Asian Festival at Ramsey Creek Park on Lake Norman on Saturday.

Enjoy outdoor activities, craft brews, local vendors and other entertainment at RiverFest on Saturday at Kevin Loftin Riverfront Park in Belmont.

Grab a bite from a food truck and listen to live music at the Rockin’ the Burg Community Concert Series at Harrisburg Park on Saturday.

Pack a blanket or chair and check out Second Saturdays at the Square in Davidson on Saturday.

Treat Mom to a cool treat on Saturday at Extreme Ice Center in Indian Trail where mothers can skate for free with the purchase of a child’s admission.

Mothers can also enjoy free admission on Saturday and Sunday at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden where there will be live music, food trucks and other festivities. The first 275 mothers through the door each day will receive a free mini potted plant.

Marvel fans can channel their inner superpowers when “Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes” opens at Discovery Place Science on Sunday. The exhibit features more than 300 original artifacts, including some of Marvel’s most iconic costumes, props and original art, much of which has never before been put on public display.

Kick back and relax to good music and good times at the Whitewater Center’s River Jam concert series. Enjoy free performances every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night through September.
