Fan Guide: Charlotte FC kicks off inaugural season

CHARLOTTE — Grab your scarf and get ready to cheer for the home team as the Charlotte FC kicks off its inaugural season in Major League Soccer.

Whether you plan to watch from the stands at Bank of America Stadium or the comforts of your couch, here’s what you need to know.

The club made a record-breaking home debut on March 5, setting a Major League Soccer attendance mark of 74,479 in a 1-0 loss to the LA Galaxy.

Eight matches will be nationally televised, while the remaining 26 matches will be broadcast locally on the official TV partner for Charlotte FC, WSOC-TV. Those games will also be shown on TV64, and a Spanish broadcast will be shown on Telemundo Charlotte.

Children older than 12 months are required to have a ticket to enter the stadium. Children younger than 12 months will be admitted without a ticket but must share a seat with an accompanying adult.

Stadium gates will open 90 minutes prior to the announced kick off time listed on the ticket.

Bank of America Stadium enforces a clear bag policy. Approved items may be placed in transparent plastic, vinyl or PVC bag no larger than 12″ x 6″ x 12″ or purses, bags or clutches no larger than 4.5″ x 6.5″. For more information on the stadium’s policies, click here.

Charlotte FC is Major League Soccer’s 30th franchise and part of Tepper Sports & Entertainment, which also includes the Carolina Panthers and Bank of America Stadium. To see the club’s team roster, click here.

The stadium received $50 million in renovations to make the facility soccer-ready, including an upgraded main concourse and supporter’s bar, soccer-specific locker rooms, a central player tunnel, a new premium club space and field-level seating.
