DaShawn Brown joined the Eyewitness News team in December 2015 as a reporter. She came to Charlotte from Charleston, South Carolina where she was a Reporter and Weekend Morning Anchor. She also grew up in the area, on nearby Johns Island. While in Charleston, DaShawn covered many of the nation's top stories, including the Charleston church shooting, the shooting death of Walter Scott, an unarmed black man killed by a former North Charleston police officer, as well as two POTUS visits to the Palmetto state. DaShawn began her career as a sports reporter, working in Mississippi and Georgia, and has earned Associated Press awards for Best Sports Feature.
