4th arrest made after gunfire strikes school bus during drug deal

CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department arrested and charged two more suspects connected to a shooting outside a school bus that came close to hitting the 33 students and a driver onboard.

Gunfire from a drug deal struck the Albemarle Road Middle School bus on Monday along the 8820 block of East W.T. Harris Boulevard, CMPD said.

No one was shut but two students were hit by broken glass. The injuries were minor.

On Thursday, police arrested Jaheim Savion Boone, 23, and on Friday, they captured Joshua Woods, 21.

They said Boone had a Glock 45 handgun and tried to shoot and kill three people who were in a 2018 Infiniti Q50 and Chevy Express. That was when rounds pierced through the school bus windows.

He was arrested after a brief foot pursuit, CMPD said.

He was charged with three counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, nine counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied moving vehicle, possession with the intent to manufacture and sell cocaine, two counts of carrying a concealed gun, and resisting, delaying, obstructing a public officer.

This is his ninth arrest since 2022 with plenty of felony charges.

Boone is currently in jail with no bond set.

Woods was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill and two counts of felony conspiracy.

Lamarious Ramel Anthony, 21, and Paris Lewis Bynum, were arrested earlier in the week.

Anthony was arrested and charged with felony possession of cocaine carrying a concealed weapon.

Bynum has been charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill, and possession of a stolen vehicle. He is also in custody.
