Priority 1 streets are major thoroughfares and streets near hospitals and police and fire stations. Examples include North Tryon Street, North Graham Street and East 7th Street.
Priority 2 streets are minor thoroughfares that sit along CATS bus routes. Examples include North Davidson Street, West Boulevard and West Tyvola Road.
The major and minor collector streets that connect larger neighborhoods are designated as Priority 3. Examples include Sharon View Road, Mulberry Church Road and High Ridge Road.
And Priority 4 is made up residential collector streets. Those are streets that connect local streets to arterial streets. Examples include Welling Avenue, Sylvania Avenue and Manchester Drive.
Priority 5 is neighborhood streets. These streets are not included in the below database. CDOT Deputy Director Charlie Jones says streets deemed Priority 4 and 5 are rarely cleared by the city of Charlotte because the snow and ice are typically melted by the time CDOT would get to them.
