Who does the Top Dog and Infinity Live commercials? Charlotte man inspires others

NOW PLAYING ABOVE

CHARLOTTE — You hear him on just about every station. From Top Dog Law to Infinity Live, his voice is instantly recognizable.

A quick search of TikTok and other social media sites will turn up plenty of posts wondering who the mystery voice behind these commercials is.

The voice belongs to Charlotte entrepreneur Terrell John. He goes by the nickname Lucky. But don’t be mistaken. He is wildly successful because of anything but luck.

“Everything bad that I went through needed to happen for me to get here,” he said.

Growing up, Lucky says he was teased for his voice. He never could have imagined becoming one of the most famous voices in radio. But in 2009, when he was working as a promoter in Philadelphia, he grew tired of how a radio station was producing his commercials. So he asked if he could do it.

“I tried it, and everybody was like, ‘Wow, your voice, your voice cuts through radio,’” he said.

From there, car dealerships, attorney offices, and other businesses started to notice him.

Today he produces 60 to 70 commercials a week out of his Charlotte condo. They’re heard across the country.

“Nobody tells me what to say,” he said. “They want me to be me fluently, use my creative judgment, and they trust me to market their product.”

In Charlotte, you’ve likely heard one of his commercials for Infinity Live. He’s the owner of the club. In the coming months, he is also planning to open a hair store nearby and a car dealership in Columbia, South Carolina.

“Nobody sees your vision but you; it’s not their vision for them to see,” he said. “So don’t quit. Work smarter and work harder than everybody else.”

He is telling entrepreneurs to be bold and not be afraid of failure. He also says you shouldn’t be afraid to go out of your comfort zone.

“Failure is how I learned, and I needed that failure to be here,” he said. “Because if not, I wouldn’t have learned half the stuff that I know.”

Whether it is in business or singing on the radio, Lucky is not afraid to take a risk or use his voice.
