INDIAN LAND, S.C. — The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says they’re investigating a deadly shooting that happened at an apartment complex early Thursday morning in Indian Land.
Deputies said they went to a complex on Parkstone Drive around 3:30 a.m. after getting multiple calls about shots fired in the area.
When deputies got to the apartment complex, they found a 26-year-old man lying in the parking lot, according to the sheriff’s office.
The victim, later identified as 26-year-old Justin J. Pullom, appeared to have died from a single shot.
Channel 9’s Tina Terry spoke with neighbors who said they heard a gunshot ring out during the early morning hours.
“It was like five gunshots back to back. I woke up and woke him up. Then we heard one more, and he’s like, I don’t think it was gunshots. It’s a nice area. Nothing could happen,” one neighbor explained.
Another neighbor said she was getting ready for work and came outside to the unthinkable.
“When I got into my car, my headlights shone on the body that I saw,” she described. “I just froze. I was immediately frightened because I wasn’t sure. I didn’t recognize he was deceased yet.”
A third neighbor said more than half a dozen bullet holes were found in his truck. He said he didn’t hear the shooting but was called to the area by police to identify his vehicle afterwards.
“I wanted to cry. I just got the truck, and I just moved here. I just moved here because it was safe,” he expressed. “You don’t want this happening where you live.”
Each neighbor expressed a similar sentiment, a desire to know the motivation behind the shooting.
However, deputies said no arrests have been made, and the motive behind the incident remains unknown.
Anyone with information regarding this shooting is asked to contact the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office at 803-283-3388.
