CHARLOTTE — Officials say Monroe Road in east Charlotte was temporarily blocked in both directions Tuesday morning after a crash involving an East Mecklenburg High School student.
The crash happened on Monroe Road near Conference Drive. Police were called to the area around 7:15 a.m., and the victim was taken to the hospital. The road reopened at about 8:15 a.m.
Channel 9 learned that the victim was a student. The school’s principal said the student was walking outside of a designated crosswalk when they were hit.
MEDIC said the student was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, but their current condition isn’t known.
