CHARLOTTE — Voting ends Wednesday for the Fraternal Order of Police and the no-confidence vote against Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Johnny Jennings.
The FOP called for the vote earlier this month after the Charlotte City Council decided to settle a potential lawsuit from Jennings.
The issue stems from controversial comments from former Councilman Tariq Bokhari over body armor.
Channel 9’s Glenn Counts spoke with sources who said they are shocked things have gotten this out of hand.
They said some of the officers believe Jennings lost the confidence of his officers because he was influenced by the wrong people.
Others think it’s a shame that his career might come to an end because of a debate over equipment and not something more serious.
Channel 9 is asking the FOP for the final tally.
