GASTONIA, N.C. — A Gastonia K-9 was just named the best police dog in the nation.
K-9 Bo and Gastonia Sgt. David Rowland were officially honored at the 2024 American Humane Hero Dog Awards last Wednesday, where Bo received the prestigious ‘Top Dog’ award.
The Gastonia Police Department said the star-studded event took place in Palm Beach, Florida on Jan. 8.
GPD said that before the ceremony, Bo got his first look at the Atlantic Ocean and met model and actress Christie Brinkley, who hosted the event, along with TV personality Carson Kressley.
Channel 9 first introduced you to K-9 Bo last year after he helped find a missing child with special needs.
“Bo is a true hero, and we are incredibly proud of him,” Police Chief Trent Conard said.
Conard added that Bo’s dedication has saved lives, “brought closure to families, and made Gastonia a safer place. The Top Dog award is a well-deserved recognition of his hard work and commitment.”
