UNION COUNTY, N.C. — From pantry shelves to the dinner table, a Union County Girl Scout is helping families turn donated goods into full meals.
Sun Valley High School student Emily Croom volunteers at a local food pantry and realized families often get items from other people’s shelves without any direction on what to make.
So, she created a cookbook, which has a collection of quick and easy recipes with ingredients that are often found in the home.
“I was hoping that with my book and with the different recipes in there, that they can have something new or try something new,” Croom said.
Croom is working on her Gold Award, an undertaking similar to becoming an Eagle Scout.
