MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Lowe’s Cos. Inc. CEO Marvin Ellison says an $80 million tariff refund could be just a fraction of what the retailer ultimately receives.
The Mooresville-based home-improvement retailer says that amount reflects a small portion of the total tariffs it paid over the last 12 to 18 months.
Lowe’s declined to share a total amount paid in tariffs or how much it expects to receive. The company is pursuing additional refunds, with a payout possible in the second half of the year, Ellison says.
He says Lowe’s will be transparent about the amount received and how the refunds are used.
“The bottom line is our objective is to make sure that we leverage these refunds to benefit our customers, and to make sure that we give our customers a great value so that they can appreciate the fact that we’re trying to help them in this challenging economic environment,” Ellison says.
