CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — A man arrested for a Catawba County murder is expected to face a judge Friday.
According to the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of a disturbance at a home on Mountain Grove Road around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday night.
Upon arrival, they found a man and a woman, 42-year-old Candy Annette Stacks, with critical injuries.
Deputies said both victims were taken to an area hospital, where Stacks would later die.
At the scene, 32-year-old Brent Allen Dingess was arrested in connection with this case.
He was charged with one count of attempted first-degree murder and one count of murder, according to deputies.
Deputies said Dingess remains in custody without bond and will make his first court appearance today.
