MARVIN, N.C. — Neighbors in Marvin are concerned about the impact a new road project will have on school traffic.
On Monday, the North Carolina Department of Transportation will begin work on a roundabout where Marvin and Town Roads meet. The intersection will be closed for eight weeks.
It’s a project residents have been asking for for years, and NCDOT officials say it will improve the flow of traffic. But many believe the timing of the project will create traffic problems with Union County Schools starting back on Aug. 28.
Channel learned that the Town of Marvin wanted construction to start earlier and that it had been scheduled to begin in April.
