MATTHEWS, N.C. — Matthews officers responded to a report of a vehicle crash with injuries at the intersection of East John Street and McKee Road on Thursday, at approximately 9:34 p.m. Upon their arrival, a four-vehicle crash, which included one motorcycle, was discovered and the motorcycle driver, Jonathan Tyler Hill, 40, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Matthews Fire and EMS also responded to the scene and immediately began attempting life-saving measures on Hill, who was unconscious.

One other person involved in the incident was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

East John Street was closed from McKee Road to Interstate 485 from Friday at approximately 9:40 p.m. to Thursday at about 1:10 a.m.

The Matthews officers assigned to the Patrol Division responded to the initial report. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
