CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. — A mother and her daughter were killed in a crash with a deer on Christmas in Cabarrus County, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 10 p.m. Wednesday on Gold Hill Road, troopers confirmed to Channel 9.
Highway patrol said the deer was first hit by one car, then it was hit by a second car being driven by 31-year-old Melissa Mullis. The deer went through the windshield and killed Mullis and her 12-year-old daughter, Carson Cummings.
Troopers said Mullis and Cummings had their seat belts on.
No charges will be filed against the driver who first hit the deer.
