75-year-old woman killed in south Charlotte crash, CMPD says

CHARLOTTE — A 75-year-old woman died after a three-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on Pineville-Matthews Road in south Charlotte, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Officers responded around 10:40 a.m. Tuesday to a crash in the 2800 block of Pineville-Matthews Road.

Investigators said a Hyundai Tucson driven by Linda Ross was turning left across the road when it was struck by a Nissan Pathfinder.

After the vehicles separated, the Nissan hit an Infiniti G37 that was waiting to cross the road.

Ross was taken to a hospital with serious injuries and later died, police said. Her family has been notified.

The Nissan’s driver and five passengers were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The Infiniti’s driver told officers he was not injured and remained at the scene.

Police said it is not yet known whether speed or a medical condition contributed to the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
