Power restored for nearly 4,000 people in south Charlotte

CHARLOTTE — Thousands were left without power Saturday afternoon as strong winds moved through the area.

Duke Energy reported almost 4,000 outages in south Charlotte near East Arrowwood Road. The official cause of the outage is unknown. It is unclear if it is weather-related. However, a strong line of storms started to move through the area around 11 a.m., bringing straight-line winds to some areas.

The weather event is not expected to last long as it should move out by around 2 p.m.

Power on Arrowwood Road should be restored by 2 p.m., according to Duke Energy.
