Arrest made after man killed in Lowell shooting, police say

LOWELL, N.C. — Police have made an arrest after a man was shot and killed in Lowell on Sunday night, according to the Gaston County Police Department.

Medical officials said they received the call just before 4:30 p.m. at a home on South Church Street in Lowell.

At the scene, the Gaston County Police Department found 21-year-old Michael Antoine Drayton Jr. with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities identified Samuel Colt Usery as the accused shooter and charged him with second-degree murder. Several other people were detained as part of the investigation, according to police. Usery is currently in jail waiting for a court appearance.

Both Drayton Jr. and Usery lived at the home where the shooting happened.
