Police charge man with attempted murder after shooting in Rock Hill

ROCK HILL, S.C. — Police have arrested a man accused of shooting another man and firing at multiple houses in Rock Hill Tuesday.

It began just after 5:30 p.m. at a home in the 200 block of Robinson Street.

Officers with the Rock Hill Police Department said the suspect, Semaj Malik Bernard Evans, was arguing with the victim, when Evans pulled out a gun and shot him. Evans fled the scene before investigators arrived.

Responding officers found a 25-year-old man with several gunshot wounds. He was transported to Piedmont Medical Center and treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

After a brief foot chase, police said they arrested Evans at a home on Carolina Avenue and recovered a handgun.

The 21-year-old was charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, unlawful carrying of a handgun, and two counts of discharging a firearm into a dwelling for hitting two homes with gunfire during the incident.
