President-elect Donald Trump tapped outgoing Rep. Dan Bishop to be deputy director for budget at the Office of Management and Budget.

The agency was created under former President Richard Nixon and is intended to help presidents meet policy, budget, management, and regulatory objectives, according to the White House’s website.

The role requires confirmation from the Senate.

Bishop lost a bid to become North Carolina’s attorney general in November.

He served as a state representative for a large part of Union County and Salisbury since 2019.
