School surprises teacher with trip to Super Bowl LVII

DAVIDSON, N.C. — A Davidson Day School teacher is thanking his students and the community for sending him to the Super Bowl LVII at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Davidson Day school teacher and Philadelphia Eagles fan Steve McGill said he was shocked to learn two students organized a GoFundMe account to send him to the big game.

The Philadelphia native admits he was flabbergasted to find out they raised enough money for a flight, hotel, and the pricey tickets.

The school threw a celebration Monday to share the big news.

“If I’ve made an impact on someone’s life, they might send me a card, give me a little $10 Amazon gift card and stuff like that,” said McGill, English teacher. “But something of this magnitude, I didn’t see it coming and I’m still kind of awestruck by it.”

McGill is still finalizing his travel plans.
