Winter Weather: Freezing, wet conditions stretch across Carolinas

CHARLOTTE — People across the Carolinas woke up to freezing, wet conditions Monday morning – and even snow in some areas.

Several school districts were closed, remote, or on delays.

Channel 9 Meteorologist Danielle Miller monitored winter weather alerts that were extended Monday for several counties across the state.

A Winter Weather Advisory continues for Alexander, Southern Caldwell, and Burke counties until 1 p.m.

There’s a Winter Storm Warning for Avery County until 1 p.m., and another Winter Storm Warning in place for Ashe and Watauga counties until 7 p.m.

Charlotte was expected dry out through the afternoon, with gusty northwest winds picking up.

The mountains will see some snow, with minor accumulations expected. Channel 9′s Dave Faherty will have the latest on preparations in the mountains throughout the day on Eyewitness News.

Severe Weather Center 9 is tracking another Arctic blast expected to move in for the middle of the week behind Monday’s storm system.
