YORK COUNTY, S.C. — A man is dead after a shooting near the Circle K off Carowinds Boulevard in Fort Mill early Monday morning, deputies said.

The York County Sheriff’s Office told Channel 9′s Eli Brand that deputies worked with multiple police agencies to track the suspected shooter down.

Around 9:20 a.m., police said they took the suspect into custody during a traffic stop. The suspect has been identified as Duan Ralphielle Partlow.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, and police in Rock Hill and Fort Mill all assisted in the investigation, YCSO said.

It’s an area that York County deputies said they patrol often.

“We’ve been patrolling this area for multiple years. This is one of our hot spots and we try to help prevent these types of things from occurring in the first place,” Deputy Trent Faris said.

Channel 9 saw crime scene investigators at the scene Monday morning surrounding a Nissan sedan, with what appeared to be a bullet hole in the driver’s side window.

The gas station remained open while the investigation continued.

We’re asking police for more details about what led up to the violence.
