Union County food pantry makes changes to address lower donation rates

UNION COUNTY, N.C. — A Union County food pantry says they’ve made recent changes that allow them to feed more people in need.

Since the pandemic, Common Heart Food Pantry has continued to grow and now serves more than 5,600 people each month through 11 different food pantries.

The need for food has stayed high, but the executive director of Common Heart, Keith Adams, says a drop in food donations has been hurting the people they serve.

“We’ve had to really cut back on what we could give to folks to make sure everybody has what we serve,” Adams told Channel 9′s Gina Esposito.
