FORECAST:
- Winter weather alerts were extended for multiple counties on Monday.
- There is a Winter Storm Warning for Ashe and Watauga counties until 7 p.m.
- Fortunately, freezing rain has tapered off and will continue to clear through the afternoon as this front moves east.
- The metro area is expected to dry out, with northwest winds picking up, gusting 30+ mph.
- The mountains will see some snow with that northwest flow, minor accumulations are expected.
- Another Arctic blast moves in for the middle of the week behind this storm system.
- We’re also still watching the Friday-Saturday timeframe for another winter storm. Details on exact precipitation type, amount, timing, still to be determined.
