FORECAST:
- We are in for some major changes in our weather the next few days.
- We’re continuing to track a winter storm moving towards our area today.
- A Winter Storm Warning is in place from noon today to 7pm Monday for Ashe and Watauga counties.
- A Winter Weather Advisory is in place for Avery, Caldwell, and parts of Burke counties from 1pm today until 1pm Monday.
- Expect building clouds through the Charlotte metro area today with an isolated shower possible.
- Some light snow and sleet is likely in the mountains early this afternoon before transitioning to patchy freezing rain this evening and overnight.
- More widespread rain moves in Monday morning as the cold front moves through the region.
- Expect rain, heavy at times, during the morning commute tomorrow before drying out Monday afternoon for the metro area.
- For the mountains, a mix of rain and freezing rain early Monday before drying out late morning.
- Breezy northwest winds will bring another round of mountain snow Monday afternoon and evening with minor accumulations.
- Back to very cold conditions behind this storm system.
