Miana Massey joined the Channel 9 news team in October 2025, reporting weekday mornings. A Baltimore native, Miana is passionate about storytelling that challenges perceptions, sparks conversation, and uplifts the community. She believes journalism is a responsibility to inform with truth, accuracy, and empathy. Her passion for broadcast news was ignited in 2015, after witnessing the media’s profound influence in shaping narratives during the aftermath of Freddie Gray’s death. From a young age, Miana felt called to ensure all communities were fairly and accurately represented. Before arriving in Charlotte, Miana anchored and reported in Baltimore, where she covered major stories including the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse, and served as a general assignment reporter in Cincinnati. She began her career as a multimedia journalist in Fort Myers, Florida. Miana is a graduate of Howard University and a proud member of the National Association of Black Journalists. When she’s not in the newsroom, she enjoys time with family and friends, good food, and travel adventures.
