FORECAST: Storms move closer paving way for active start to week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — SATURDAY: With temperatures hitting 89 degrees, it was Charlotte's hottest day of the year.

There is a small chance for downpours in the forecast, mainly in the afternoon.

While most neighborhoods stay dry, any storms could contain heavy rain/lightning.

SUNDAY: Chances for thunderstorms increase.

Storms will continue to move in our direction with a few isolated storms and scattered storms.

The severe weather threat will be low.

Temperatures with remain in the high 80s with a 40 percent chance of rain.

NEXT WEEK: A front will slide through by Tuesday, knocking the heat back for the middle of next week. On Monday, a 70 percent chance of rain is expected.
